Interior Designer vs Interior Decorator
Interior Designers focus on both functional and aesthetic solutions for interior spaces. Interior Designers analyze your needs, can work with you to develop a project budget, will prepare and present design concepts and solutions custom fit to your requirements, and they can manage the implementation of the project from start to finish. Interior Designers can work to improve the flow and feel of a space by altering structural elements and reworking electrical and plumbing placement if required. They will ensure that the final design complies with all regulatory and legal requirements and they can work in corporate office, healthcare, hospitality, retail, residential, public and institutional spaces.
Interior decoration, on the other hand, focuses on surface treatment and selection and placement of fixtures and furnishings. An interior decorator’s scope of work would include things such as colour, materials and furniture selection, typically working in residential environments.
